Introduction

Welcome to the wonderful world of lash extensions! As a lash tech, you will have the opportunity to make women feel beautiful and confident by enhancing their natural features. If you’re passionate about beauty and thrive in a fast-paced environment, then this might be the perfect career for you.

So, how do you become a lash tech? Keep reading to find out!

Step One: Lash Certification

Every Lash Tech MUST have a Certification in either a Volume or Classic course in order to obtain an insurance policy. This is non-negotiable. I would recommend taking BOTH coursed because it makes you much more marketable and you will learn so much more!

There are many lash companies that offer both courses online as well as in person. I personally believe that Lash Extensions should be learned IN PERSON because it is a hands-on trade. However, I understand that not everyone has the same circumstances and sometimes taking an online course is the only way to go! Either way, just make sure that the company you are getting your certification from is an ACCREDITED school.

Once you have completed your certification, you will then need to take a model. A model is someone who lets you practise your lashing skills on them. I would recommend asking a friend or family member first to see if they would be interested in being your model. If not, most accreditated lash schools have models that they can provide for you at an additional cost.

Once you have completed your model, send in photos of your work along with your certificate to the insurance company of your choice in order to get insured!

Step Two: Invest in the Right Tools

quality tweezers, a good light, and lash adhesive. Once you have these things, you can start practicing on yourself or a friend.

Step Three: Join a Lash Community

The third step to becoming a lash tech is joining a lash community. This can be done online or in person. There are many resources available to help you connect with other professionals in the industry, exchange tips and advice, and find Continuing Education opportunities. Online resources include social media groups and forums, as well as websites like LashBase (www.lashbase.com). In-person resources include local Meetups and trade shows. Attending lash competitions is also a great way to meet other professionals and learn about new techniques.

Step Four: Lash Maps and Lashing Techniques

Now that you’ve completed your training and have a good understanding of the products you’ll be using, it’s time to learn about lash maps and lashing techniques.

Lash maps are diagrams that help you plan where each individual lash should go. They take into account the shape of the eye and the client’s desired look. There are many different lash map shapes, so it’s important to find one that works well for you and practice with it until you feel comfortable.

There are also many different lashing techniques, but the most common are classic lashes, volume lashes, and hybrid lashes. Classic lashes are single extensions applied to one natural lash. Volume lashes are multiple thinner extensions applied to one natural lash. Hybrid lashes are a mix of classic and volume extensions applied to one natural lash.

Once you’ve chosen a lashing technique, practice applying lashes on yourself or a friend until you feel confident doing it on a client. It takes time and practice to master this skill, but once you do, you’ll be able to give your clients the beautiful lashes they desire!

Step Five: Continuing Education

As your career as a lash tech progresses, you will want to continue your education to keep your skills sharp and stay up-to-date on the latest lash trends. Continuing education can take many forms, from online courses and webinars to in-person classes and workshops. Look for opportunities to learn from the best in the industry by attending lash conferences and trade shows. These events are a great way to network with other professionals, learn about new products and techniques, and find inspiration for your work.

In conclusion, becoming a lash tech is a process that requires time, training, and a passion for the industry. With the right Lash Tech School, you can be on your way to becoming a certified lash technician in as little as five steps!
